First bites

I wait until my children are 6 months old before I feed them solid foods. You know... so that they are really ready:

Yep, there's no force feeding here. Priceless pictures, huh? I love it!

Actually, I breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months of age because it's the best thing for baby. It seems to be a little known fact (given how many young (and old!!) mothers look at me in shock), but really exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months is the recommendation across the board for feeding infants (and I'm not talking about Le Leche League here either). Maybe people are just shocked that my little moose child got so bulky on mama's milk alone... afterall it looks like he's been sneaking a few Twinkies on the side.

But seriously though, this little guy would probably be content to just nurse for a while-- he is such a snuggle bug, and obviously he's thriving on breastmilk (weighing in at 23+ lbs at 6 months!!). But his ability to grab things mingled with the baby phase of putting-everything-in-my-mouth has made it impossible to hide.

So on we go to a new phase of life... feeding 3 little boys at the dinner table!! Don't even ask what the floor looks like after a meal. Ahhh!! :)

I know what you mean about your baby really enjoying table food/baby food. Seth loves it so much that he gets quite upset if I don't keep shoveling it in his mouth and then he starts crying and ends up sucking down his throat and then gets upset bc that didn't feel good, so I end up having to quite spoon feeding him and getting him calmed down and feeding him later in the day to start the drama all over again. Makes it quite difficult.

He definitely looks ready!
I am the same way with feeding solids. In fact I dread doing it and try to avoid it for as long as possible. Just nursing is sooooo much easier. I've never understood why so many people want to start solids so early.

Hee, hee...your baby is so huggable with his fat rolls. Natalie is just now 23 pounds at 20 months! I so enjoy keeping up with your family with your blog posts. I find your posts, encouraging, humorous, and sometimes challenging as well. Thank you for sharing.

He looks SO good! Yay for you with exclusive breastfeeding :) Breast is best!

My lil pipsqueaks did NOT get pleasantly plump on Mama's milk...more like lean mean fighting machines :) Oh well, I stuck in there and did a good full year for both.
