These pictures of Isaiah and Daddy seem to be such a great example of the trust a child has in his parents. Isaiah enjoyed walking the balance beam, but didn't want to do it on his own. He wanted to walk it with Daddy. He wanted to feel that strength and support, to know that he would be safe and secure, even while he was doing something "very brave" and daring. I found it so sweet to see him clutching Daddy's hands and not want to let go.
I guess we both know, that the day will be coming when he wants to venture out on his own, when he doesn't want help, and may not even need help. But for now I think we both treasure the moments of close love and admiration for his parents, where we are his world, and he can't see beyond us. Perhaps thats what makes these childhood years so precious; the little ones need us so much, and can't quite function without us.
Though they may not always appreciate the direction they receive, they need and require it! They need the boundaries, the safety net, the steadfast love and compassion. These childhood days are so much work, yet I treasure every moment. Well... almost every moment, there was this time when Isaiah...
