Infamous

I always wondered what I’d do if I had a skinny baby.

Probably freak out just a little.

Slimness is not something that my kids “do.” At least during their first year of life. They are big at birth, and they just keep getting bigger. Rounder and rounder. Chubbier and chubbier with this great stuff called mother’s milk. Its not that they eat an extraordinary amount, its that, according to the doctors, I make pure whipping cream.

It never takes long before the infamous family double chin appears.

Doesn’t he wear it well? Oooh, I just love my little double chinned boy.

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Q-tips

Four little, five little, six little Q-tips…

Seven little, eight little, nine little Q-tips…

But just ONE little Q-tip boy!

And for the record, it was more than 10 little Q-tips. More like 750 of them.

Why do they make such big packages of  Q-tips anyway? Sigh. Being the frugal gal that I am, I shoved the Q-tips all back into the container despite the protests of my husband and insisted that we use them anyway.

What’s the big deal? I asked him. There’s nothing wrong with using wet, sucked on, lint covered Q-tips.

Pots n pans

I’m beginning to wonder when the pots n pans stage will end for my Noah (11 months). The cabinet that houses my stainless steel Scanpans has been emptied on a daily basis for quite some time now.

Shortly after he learned to crawl, Noah would make his way into the kitchen and work to empty the cupboards-- and then crash the pots and pans together... with looks of glee, of course.

Can’t you just about hear the metal on metal banging and clanging? Pure music to your ears, right?

Over the months Noah’s skills have developed, so now he not only empties the cabinet and smashes and crashes pots together for sound effects, but he’s also able to get in there and get it done before I can catch him.

Part of me says, “Oh, that little rascal! When will this end!!” And the other part of me just melts. I love that sweet little “look-how-fast-and-amazing-I-am!” look.

It get’s me every time. And so, as it always happens when I don’t nip things in the bud, I make the pots and pans phase last just a little longer.

The Culprit

Noah has not been himself the last week or so. He's been waking up at night.

Moaning and groaning at the slightest upset.

Whining if he's not being held.

And sadly, I have even seen him just lay his head down and cry. Which makes me want to cry too. Poor little, guy! I had my suspicion's about the culprit, but it's only just today that I've been able to catch that troublesome bad boy on camera.

That's right, you guessed it: Noah's first tooth.

So as any good mom, I've been keeping the Ibuprofen and teething rings handy, offering as many extra snuggles as I can, and praying that the next 19 baby teeth are smooth sailing.
Growing up isn't easy, is it, Sweetheart?

Bad Hair Day

While I was talking with my husband on the phone, I looked down at our youngest son, Noah, and started laughing. I couldn't help it.

I said "I think Noah is having a bad hair day"

My husband laughed, but quickly denied it. "Baby's don't have bad hair day's, Dear," he replied.

We laughed together; the thought did seem quite absurd.

But then I took another look at Noah and thought... I beg to differ.

At least a bad hair day never looked so cute.

Cute to the core

Yesterday, I got all three boys in the bath.

Together.

I'm not quite sure how I managed it without getting soaked myself. But the older boys actually thought it was quite fun to have the baby in the bath with them.

And it was quite fun. Noah (4 mos) kicked and splashed in glee, while Isaiah(3yrs) and Joshua (2yrs) shouted, "He's swimming!!"

A photo op wasn't quite working while in the bath (bathing 3 boys three years and under requires both hands, even if your middle name is Supermom), so I made up for it afterwards and took these "cute to the core" pictures of the boys in their undies.

Now that's a super model pose, if I ever saw one!

Oh, the fat rolls on this "little" guy!

Don't you just love these poses? He looks so wistful!

Happiness

These pictures just make me so happy. Boy, do I love these boys!!

I can't even express how much they mean to me, or how thankful I am for their presence.
Lord, thank you for my boys and their sweet little faces.
